7th Chemo cycle done
On schedule this time, its Sunday afternoon and I am finally feeling OK. Thursday and Friday were pretty rough ZERO-energy days. I continue to have these strange dreams/sensations/nightmares where I wake up from sleep mentally but my body doesn't, like being paralyzed. Provigil - The med I started to help get me out of a daze. The jury is still out on this. I was only taking it a week before the Chemo started, and during Chemo week I take decadron which has a similar side effect. Actually I need to ask the doctor if I should even be taking Provigil with Chemo. Thanks for reminding me. The week I took it before Chemo I did not feel the exhaustion, but I still had issues with headaches.
I got the radiologist report from my last MRI. I am interested in these because all I get out of the doctor is 'it looks stable'. I swear you need to be a doctor to read these reports, but with my friend Google, I was able to milk some info out of it. There is a section of the report called "MR Perfusion". This is basically about blood flow and blood pressure in the brain. The report indicates that there is an area of increased pressure due to the tumor. This has got me thinking two things. First - this is where the 'pressure behind my eyes' is coming from, Second, this is probably where my headaches are coming from. These are on my list to discuss at the next appointment.

I read everything; courage. Keep posting. We all need it.
ReplyDeleteI mentioned to you that there was research done by Mayo Clinic on using ginseng for chemo related fatigue. Most patients did have a decrease in their fatigue when they used 500 mg of 100% Wisconsin American Ginseng in morning and another 500 mg in evening. My husband's oncologist said that ginseng is used for general fatigue and said to try it. My husband took it the 3rd day of his 5 day cycle because that is when the fatigue starts but he only takes 500 mg in the morning to see how he responds. He has taken it everyday and now he is 11 days from taking his first dose of temodar and he has only had to take a nap once. He can do garden work and hasn't felt any fatigue. In about 2 days we will stop it and see how he feels. Usually the fatigue subsides in about 2 weeks after he finishes the chemo. Thought you might think about this option or talk to oncologist about it. Can look at the study if you google Mayo Clinic and Ginseng study
